Still not sure

This last month I have been going back and forth between two ideas. The first is my original one (see below), but with the story changed round a bit so there's no more aliens etc. The other idea involved me creating Rivendell, the Elf town from Lord of the Rings, and having a similar game set there instead. The player would have been sent there by the Elf council to find out why Elf's are losing their longevity powers etc.

The problem I faced with Rivendell was the fact weapons and characters in the game currently wouldn't fit in well with the theme. I would then have to create weapons like Swords and bow and arrows, as well as characters which just wouldn't of been feasible. Creating the whole place in 3D was something I was looking forward to, and I may do this as a side project for my CV.

So it looks like I'm sticking with my original idea. I have been playing about with UT3 constantly since I last posted and I have come up with lots of ways to make a single player experience feasible in the current UT3 engine just by using Kismet, although I will be learning UTScript. I'll send my idea to J this week after I tweak the story some more and write down some more ideas. I'll keep playing around with UT3 until I get these books which will help me get started creating the map in the best way possible.
